Smart Card Technology Elonex has long been appreciative of the need for secure, intelligent, flexible, cost-effective and simple IT solutions for modern businesses. By adapting the very latest in SmartCard technology, Elonex have developed a unique solution that clearly satisfies these needs.

The SmartCard is a special purpose storage device about the size and thickness of a credit card, that contains a thin microprocessor capable of storing data, but not all cards are the same. Elonex offer a SmartCard that generates its own key internally, uses the fastest encryption/decryption cycle (70 milliseconds) and is capable of supporting 15 different applications.

The Elonex SmartCard can be used to log-on to a PC or network, to gain entry to a building, operate as an "electronic purse", integrate with a cash desk and more.

Multi-functional and highly secure
The Smart Card is a special purpose storage device about the size and thickness of a credit card, that contains a microprocessor capable of data storage and processing. Our technology allows the card to drive or support up to 15 different applications and stores its own secret key in an encrypted file so that no-one, including the manufacturer, knows the key. It can be used for:

Low cost and easily integrated
Use of Smart Cards can provide for cost savings from the outset. One of the most common causes requiring intervention of an organisation's IT Help Desk personnel is the fact that a user has forgotten system password(s). The time taken to resolve the issue can be lengthy and costly. Our Smart Cards overcome this problem as the user authentication is produced by the card itself.

The Cards can also absorb existing applications - such as swipe card access controls and bar coded processes - but can be operated by a single administrator/administration system. It will merge with, and complement, the control systems present in legacy IT systems, including: Windows 95, 97, 98, 2000, ME, NT and XP. As the technology is based on the internationally accepted DES Encryption standards you are provided with high levels of security for your applications and processes. Furthermore, the technology provides for automatic auditing, which can be integrated with current administration tools.
