quote I was recommended to talk to Elonex by colleagues and I did of course talk to other companies. Elonex took the time to understand what I was really looking to achieve. It was so important for me to get it right and create office facilities that would serve my new business and give good value. Without a doubt Elonex assisted me in achieving my start-up goals. quote
    JAMES DAY,
    MANAGING DIRECTOR.

Urban Golf In early 2004 company Urban Golf was founded by professional golfer James Day. The vision for Urban Golf was to offer the public golfing simulation facilities at the Urban Golf offices in Great Poultney Street, London.

Using these simulation machines a customer can effectively play any golf course in the world in any conditions, and have all aspects of their game and skill on that day analysed, and all from one location in very pleasant surroundings in many instances close to the customers place of work.

Also required for the new offices was an Office Network to support the business and Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) facilities to serve the public. Elonex were approached to discuss a solution as our capability in this area had been recommended to James by other business contacts.

    The Solution
The internal I.T. Infrastructure of Urban Golf would be a mission critical part of the business, Elonex therefore provided pre-sales advice and discussed different solutions with great attention to detail.

During initial discussions it became clear that the EPOS application, would require a touch screen facility, the Elonex touch screen all in one Elonex ProSentia 1050T was suggested as a good candidate.

To give great value to such a new business, Elonex proposed Microsoft Office Small Business Server (SBS) and a network of initially 5 Prosentia 1050's, one of which would be a touch screen for EPOS. Each workstation would also provide extra value as Elonex would install OEM Microsoft Office on each machine as part of the production process. Internet access, e-mail and a secure firewall were also a necessity.

On going all embracing I.T. Support, including remote access to diagnose any queries, was also an absolute necessity. Urban Golf would not be employing any I.T. personnel. Urban Golf took comfort from Elonex's ability to spend time with the customer in discussions and explanations to find the right solution and provide best value from the budget available. In June 2004, Urban Golf gave Elonex the go ahead to implement our proposed solution.

    The Result
The Urban Golf network installed by Elonex is stable and well supported and adding value to the business. Urban Golf is growing successfully as a business. Customer databases have been implemented to launch campaigns to drive the business forward. Elonex are advising currently on remote working with VPN access to other sites.
