    Blueheath This case study highlights the ability of Elonex to work with a British start up organisation and to work with the customer as a flexible partner in the core business area and then also be chosen as best provider to implement a completely new central IT Infrastructure.

    The Challenge
    Blueheath Direct started business in 2000 and is the first ever Internet-enabled grocery wholesaler. The Blueheath business was founded on the principle of stripping out unnecessary supply chain costs, making considerable savings that it passes on to its customers. This enables Blueheath to offer customers a wholesale delivery service at close to Cash & Carry prices, which are lower than those traditionally offered in the delivered wholesale service sector.

    Blueheath approached many manufacturers to discuss the supply of Internet ready, Imaged, PC's to Blueheath customers (such customers could for example be Garage Forecourts, or retail Newsagents). Blue Heath required as part of the business model to supply over 1,000 of these in the first year alone.

    After discussions regarding the whole project, logistics of Software Imaging, Supply and Support, Blueheath selected Elonex in January 2001. Elonex were to build PCs to the Blue Heath specification and project manage the call off for customer delivery and supply a warranty swap out service. The first order in itself consisted of over 300 PCs and many more have followed during a 5 year relationship.

    The Solution
    The solution consists of two elements:

    • .: Provision of the PC Internet Access platform to hundreds of Blue Heath customers. Supply of 2000 PCs during the relationship - direct to Blue Heath customers Design with Blue Heath of the Software Image Flexible Warranty arrangements and on site warranty service
    • .: Installation of the central mission critical administration and order processing network for Blue Heath themselves. The most crucial point is that Elonex became a genuine business partner to assist Blue Heath progress. Installation of new Office Network. Elonex Resilience 5000 Server - configured as RAID 5. 2 X Elonex Resilience 4000 Servers - MS Server Platform. 30+ Elonex ProSentia PC's on Internal Network, plus all network facilities such as printing, switches, tape back up, and cabling. Remote Network Support and On Site Support for all H/W and S/W. Advice on technology and chip set changes to advise on new images, to give Blue Heath best value (Blue Heath purchase the machines for customers - so overall value in this area was essential).     Elonex has been a partner and a supplier to Blue Heath throughout the history of the company, over 5 years now.
