The Challenge
Blueheath Direct started business in 2000 and is the first ever Internet-enabled grocery wholesaler. The Blueheath business was founded on the principle of stripping out unnecessary supply chain costs, making considerable savings that it passes on to its customers. This enables Blueheath to offer customers a wholesale delivery service at close to Cash & Carry prices, which are lower than those traditionally offered in the delivered wholesale service sector.
Blueheath approached many manufacturers to discuss the supply of Internet ready, Imaged, PC's to Blueheath customers (such customers could for example be Garage Forecourts, or retail Newsagents). Blue Heath required as part of the business model to supply over 1,000 of these in the first year alone.
After discussions regarding the whole project, logistics of Software Imaging, Supply and Support, Blueheath selected Elonex in January 2001. Elonex were to build PCs to the Blue Heath specification and project manage the call off for customer delivery and supply a warranty swap out service. The first order in itself consisted of over 300 PCs and many more have followed during a 5 year relationship.
